Andrew Dey, Consultant and former Director of Legal Change at Barclays

Andrew has been involved in various operational, change management, technology and strategy roles within in-house Legal, most recently as a Director in Global Legal change team at Barclays Bank. He has undertaken numerous strategic reviews and legal technology audits and been responsible for the end-to-end project lifecycle for many technology implementations - including document management, case and matter management, legal eBilling, records management and knowledge management.

A founder member of the Banking Legal Technology (“BLT”) group, the Legal IT Innovators Group (“LITIG”) and the “KMIT” in-house legal group, Andrew is an active member of the KM Committee of the Society for Computers and Law. He worked closely with the LEDES Oversite Committee to produce the international version of their eBilling standard, and is frequently asked to provide real-life insight on the implementation of legal technologies within Corporate legal teams, and thought leadership at industry events. He is currently a volunteer on the UK Programming Team of ILTA (the International Legal Technology Association) and is providing consultancy services to in-house legal teams.

Sarah Barrett-Vane, Director, Legal Operations Group Legal & Compliance at Royal Mail

Sarah trained and worked as a lawyer for 13 years, firstly in private practice and then in-house, before changing direction whilst working at the Ministry of Justice (Legal Aid Board) and moving from the role of Contract & Procurement Lawyer to that of Contract & Procurement Manager. Sarah moved to Royal Mail in 2009, joining the Group Procurement team with the primary aim of carrying out RMG’s first legal panel review under the General Counsel, Doug Evans. Having completed that, in 2012 Sarah moved into the Group Legal team to work for the incoming GC, Neil Harnby, as Director of Legal Operations. This role covers, primarily, the management & control of the legal budget (internal and external), all legal panel reviews, the procurement of legal services and management of all law firms and Chambers instructed by RMG. She currently reports into the new GC, Maaike de Bie. As part of RMG’s continued efficiency programme, Sarah brought Thomson Reuters Legal Tracker into RMG in May 2015.

Claire Debney, Former VP & General Counsel, Group Legal Affairs & Compliance at Renkitt Benckiser

Until January 2016, Claire was VP General Counsel, Group Legal Affairs & Compliance at RB. Claire joined RB from Gillette (now P&G) in 2006 as European General Counsel. During her ten years at RB, Claire led and managed multiple multi-jurisdictional investigations and litigations, including the Gaviscon enquiry and follow-on claims in the High Court. She set up RB’s global compliance program. Most recently, Claire has been instrumental in leading innovation at RB with the creation of i-Legal, the award-winning portal which utilises technology and tools to enhance the delivery of in-house legal services, as well as a focus on education, building a bespoke leadership program, The Academy, for RB’s Legal Department. Claire trained at city firm DJ Freeman (now Olswang) before relocating to Melbourne, Australia where she practised as an IP lawyer at Allens and King Wood Mallesons. She obtained her law degree from the University of Kent and has a Postgraduate Diploma in IP from Bristol University. She is admitted to practice in England & Wales and Victoria (Australia). Claire is a co-founder of the in-house mentoring program, MOSAIC, which she runs with her colleague, Emma Sharpe at RB.

Natalie Salunke, European Counsel at Enterprise Rent-A-Car

Natalie is the European counsel for global service provider Enterprise Rent-A-Car. She is a member of the UK and European management teams and plays a strategic role in advising the business on a variety of legal matters and strategic developments within the EMEA region. Prior to her role at Enterprise, Natalie carried out a similar role for US-listed cloud software provider NetSuite; and she was Group Head of Legal and Company Secretary of Venda - a UK-based eCommerce SaaS provider. In these roles she has been responsible for all company legal matters, including adopting an advisory role in relation to the group's shareholders, board of directors and executive management. Her three-year tenure at Venda culminated in her leading the successful sale of the business to NetSuite and had her preparing the business for an IPO, advising on various fundraising rounds and debt restructurings, and working on key commercial projects for the business. Before Venda, Natalie worked in Travelex's legal team, having trained at Taylor Wessing.
